Shag Dancing |
|
Have you tried Shaggin’?
If you haven’t, well now’s the time. Every Monday evening at The General Store Café in downtown Pittsboro, master Shag instructors June Arthurs and Larry Patterson, in conjunction with members of the Chatham Area Shag Association (CASA) will be teaching Shag lessons. Learn about the dance born in the Carolinas and see why over 95 Shag clubs have sprung up from Pennsylvania to Florida.
Thanks to owner Vance Remick, The General Store Café’ will now be the new home for June and Larry’s dance classes on Monday nights. Located at 39 West Street in downtown Pittsboro (across from the courthouse) with a brand new dance floor, stage, state of the art sound system, and expanded entertainment area, combined with a great menu and a variety of beverages, The General Store Café is the ideal place to learn how to shag. The beginner class starts at 7:00pm, followed by intermediates at 8:00, and advanced at 9:00. Lessons are only $30.00 per person each month. And on the first Monday of each month come in at 6:30 pm for a free lesson!
So come join June and Larry along with CASA members on Mondays, and see how much fun shaggin’ can be!

Enjoy the sounds of Shana Tucker-Williams, cellist/singer-songwriter/guitarist. Shana is a NY-based artist who’s set on blazing a trail for herself Down South. Transcending genre distinctions, Shana settles comfortably within the realm of ChamberSoul – a familiar pastiche of soulful, acoustic, down-tempo pop culture with hints of classically-influenced folksie otherstuff. Her music speaks for itself through well-crafted lyrics, subtle, lingering melodies, and compositions that boast a unique, satisfying blend of humor and gravity.
