Jazz with Bernie Petteway |
|
You'll hear the Bernie Petteway Trio play jazz standards for sure, but don't be surprised if you hear tunes from the songbooks of Pat Metheny, Patsy Cline, Charlie Haden, or even the BeeGees. This incredibly talented trio includes Bernie Petteway on guitar, Ed Butler on drums and Robbie Link of double bass.

Martha Bassett, Friday, September 5, 8:30-11:00 pm |
|
Martha Bassett |
|
You might describe their music as cocktail country or sultry southern swing. Martha's voice is the centerpiece of a fine ensemble of veteran musicians. Acoustic and dance sets nestle together in a genre-defying mix. Their originals and slinky takes on standards engage the listener from the first note! They recently opened for Lyle Lovett and His Large Band and continue on their run of festivals and concert venues throughout the Southeast.
Martha Bassett, vocals, guitar
Justin Poindexter, guitar, lap steel, vocals
Nathan Scott, upright bass
Terry Lonergan, drums

The "BigTime Party Band", which was born in 2003, is one of the hottest new beach music/variety bands in the southeast. With 3 songs on the top 40 beach chart (94.9, The Surf) in the 2 years, they are becoming one of the most requested bands in their genre. Signed by Ripete/KHP Music 3 years ago, they continue to put out new music constantly, with their latest two releases in April of 2008 and a new one scheduled in June of 2008 on compilation CDs. There complete band CD is scheduled in the fall of 2008. With nine (9) members, they have vocal abilities that not many other bands can match. From the tenor voices of John & Johnny Wilson, to the falsetto of Bill Hancock, along with his exceptional talent on the keyboards, the deep bass of Nick Alam or the female vocals of Tiff Wheeler, they can make each song they sing impress you with their differences, but yet WOW you with their harmonious blend. With the talent and raw sound of Dave Brooks on guitar, they have an edge about them not many other beach/variety bands can offer. The experience of drummer of Ernie Pryce, the work ethic of Dr. Gene Linfors on sax and the solid sound of Brian Terry on bass guitar puts this band together like a good puzzle. Together they are the "BigTime Party Band" !!
