Shag Dancing

Have you tried Shaggin’? If you haven’t, well now’s the time. Every Monday evening at The General Store Café in downtown Pittsboro, master Shag instructors June Arthurs and Larry Patterson, in conjunction with members of the Chatham Area Shag Association (CASA) will be teaching Shag lessons. Learn about the dance born in the Carolinas and see why over 95 Shag clubs have sprung up from Pennsylvania to Florida.

The beginner class starts at 7:00pm, followed by intermediates at 8:00, and advanced at 9:00. Lessons are only $30.00 per person each month. So come join June and Larry along with CASA members on Mondays, and see how much fun shaggin’ can be!

Jazzbeau

Jazzbeau plays melodic and tuneful jazz you can listen (and often dance) to. Included in the repertoire are great standards by great American and Latin composers, as well as “straight ahead” jazz tunes. Jazzbeau features Greg Cagle on Trumpet, Flugelhorn, and Soprano Saxophone; Danny Gotham on Guitar; and Jeff Elliott on Upright Bass and the occasional vocal.

Fantastic Swang Brothers, their music influenced by Chet Atkins, Elvis, Englebert Humperdinck, Dean Martin, Gene Vincent and Conway Twitty. Band members: Eric Peterson - Electric Guitar Dave Quick - Vocals & Acoustic Guitar F.J. Ventre - Vocals & Upright Bass

Applesauce

Country blues so sinister it could scare the guy who scared Robert Johnson." Indy Week - Rick Cornell Out of Pittsboro/Chapel Hill, Applesauce is a new NC vocal and guitar duo traveling the land and practicing their 6-string weaving. Both are veterans of the NC scene. Mark Holland (formerly of the major label band Jennyanykind) sings, plays guitar and harmonica. Peter Waggoner (formerly of Blue Diablo) plays lead guitar, sings and plays harmonica. Breaking many a tune down country-blues or "front-porch" style, their repertoire consists of originals and covers of blues, country-blues, folk, ragtime, Popular song, roots and many other genres that can be placed into their blues grinder.
