8:00-10:30 pm
When Tuscaloosa songwriter Rob Guthrie was asked to play the main stage at the 2008 Kentucky Arts Festival, he worried that he didn\'t have enough material to cover the gig. So he turned to college friend and fellow songwriter Seth Martin for help. Together, Guthrie and Martin reimagined and rearranged their respective backlog of songs to forge something new. The result was a remarkable 60-minute set that drew upon basic string band arrangements to highlight a fresh, melodic lyricism and a late sixties/early seventies pop sensibility.

Calling on the help of multi-instrumentalist Joshua Clell Langford, the newly-minted Sinful Savage Tigers recorded their first album \"Rain is the Soup of the Dogs in Heaven\" over the course of three days in late December of 2008. The nine song debut calls to mind influences ranging from Graham Parsons to James Mathus, from the Kinks to AM country, from Gillian Welch to Guided By Voices.

The Sinful Savage Tigers are
Seth Martin: guitars/banjos/harmonica/vocals
Rob Guthrie: guitars/banjos/harmonica/vocals
Joshua Clell Langford: bass/mandolin
(with David Bernay, Andrew Huebner, and that one guy Dan who plays the viola). Also performing will be \"Big Al Hall\"; an accomplished folk and old time songwriter from Wilmington, NC with a penchant for harmonies both clever and bittersweet. Accompanied by Jones Smith on guitar and bass.
