B urrito Bash for the Haw River Assembly , Carolina Outreach Foundation & Clapping Hands Farm |
|
The Haw River Assembly is a non-profit citizens' group founded in 1982 to restore and protect the Haw River and Jordan Lake, and to build a watershed community that shares this vision The scenic 110 mile Haw River is at the headwaters of the Cape Fear River Basin, and includes the Jordan Lake reservoir, providing drinking water and recreation to NC. Tributaries of the Haw River and
Jordan Lake flow through Guilford, Rockingham, Caswell, Alamance, Orange, Chatham, Wake and Durham counties. Almost one million people are part of this watershed--sedimentation, wastewater, and runoff impair its waters.
Our goals are to promote environmental education, conservation and pollution prevention; to speak as a voice for the river in the public arena; and to put into peoples' hands the tools and the knowledge they need to be effective guardians of the river.
Our work is made possible by the efforts and support of our members and volunteers! Please join us today.
The Carolina Outreach Foundation works with families of children with behavioral, emotional, and mental health disabilities to provide them opportunities for recreation, vocational internships, and academic support.
Clapping Hands Farm is located in Chatham County, Pittsboro, NC. We have a unique outdoor setting with acres of fields, forest, and pond to explore; here we have chickens, a garden, solar power, a hand pump at the well, all set back 3/4 of a mile from the paved road. Car pooling is normally organized from Chapel Hill, Durham, and sometimes from Wake County, Alamance County and Hillsborough.
Our programs are focused on ART and NATURE and feature working artists and naturalists as lead teachers, a culturally diverse camp community, a fantastic staff- camper ratio (1-5 or better), happy campers that return year after year, and new campers that we can't wait to meet! We started our summer camp program in 2000; we began year-round programs with Fall-Winter-Spring workshops, classes, teacher workday programs, school vacation and track out camps, etc. in 2007. We have programs for children ages 2-16, adults, and the whole family together. |

We then were hosted at Trilogy Farms for many years.
Currently Heads Up! has a home just 2 miles south of Pittsboro. Heads Up! is a 501(c)3 non-profit serving over 30 people each week. Our staff includes a nationally certified riding instructor and a physical therapist and we are a NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) Premier accredited center.
We are absolutely dependent on our community for support, both monetary and in manpower. Please consider giving of your time and/or of your money

The need for affordable housing in Chatham County has never been greater. With skyrocketing growth, many low-income families are getting left out in the cold.
At Chatham Habitat, future homeowners, volunteers, and staff work side-by-side to build safe, energy-efficient, and affordable houses which partner families purchase with zero percent interest mortgages.Since 1989, Chatham Habitat has worked to change substandard housing conditions by making homeownership possible for nearly 90 families throughout the county.
In the process, Habitat is able to transform lives, improve neighborhoods, and most importantly...
...give hope and strength to our communities.
